Fundraising Events

Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region has several exciting fundraising events throughout the year.  Funds raised through these events allow us to make many of our programs available for free or at little cost to the public.

Soup on Sunday

In January each year, everyone in the community can come taste soups from the region's finest restaurants.  Bowls of bisques, seafood specialties, and a variety of vegetable soup creations are just some of your culinary choices at Soup on Sunday.  Also offered are gourmet coffees, breads, gelato, and desserts.  Hosted by the Hospitality Education Division of Central Piedmont Community College, this event is open to restaurants who would like to showcase one of their signature soups to tempt your taste buds and come back for more!

Soup on Sunday features a wonderful selection of pottery for purchase.  Jinny Hargrave, owner of Carolina Clay Connection, has inspired local artists to support our mission.  Among those HPCCR friends contributing works of art are: local potters and artists, friends from Urban Ministries, students and faculty from both Charlotte Country Day School and Providence Day School, and artists from Sun City Art Guild.  To see pictures from 2009 Soup on Sunday, click here.

Lake Norman Hospice Regatta and Party

Each year in May, Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman hosts a two-day sailing regatta along with a fabulous party to kick off the weekend festivities.  Sailing is open to competitive and non-competitive sailors and tickets to the party are available to our friends in the community.  Funds raised from this event directly support our mission of providing quality care to those with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.  Click on the link to view pictures from the 2009 Lake Norman Hospice Regatta and Party.

Taste of Birkdale

Birkdale Village restaurants in Huntersville, NC host a food and wine tasting benefit for Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman.  Enjoy a summer evening with tasty treats in picturesque Birkdale!

Hit the Brixx

Brixx Wood Fired Pizza is the host of the annual Hit the Brixx event, a benefit for Kids Path® Pediatric Care.  Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate in this family-friendly event and support Kids Path.  Hit the Brixx is part of the Grand Prix Series.

Historic Plaza Midwood Chantilly Chili Cook-Off

The month of October usually brings us cooler weather just in time to enter your own chili recipe at the annual chili-tasting event.  Chili fans will vote for their favorite who will win the title of “Tasters Choice” (best overall chili).  Gates open at noon (1318-D Central Avenue near Sammy’s Deli between CVS & Family Dollar) for this family-friendly event.  If chili is not your thing, come for the ride-in bike show, bake sale, raffle, and fellowship.

 Pedal the Park

Pedal the Park is a self-paced cycling event benefitting the Levine & Dickson Hospice House.  The 30-mile and 60-mile routes will take you through scenic Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Iredell counties.  This event also includes a 1.8-mile family fun ride around the inner-loop of The Park-Huntersville for the casual cyclists.

 Empty Bowl

Rising Sun Pottery, located in Lincolnton, is our host for the annual empty bowl event each October. Choose a soup bowl made by local potters, fill it with Potato Leek or Hearty Vegetable soup and enjoy!  Join friends in the community, volunteers, and staff from Hospice & Palliative Care Lincoln County, and sample the delicious soups and desserts made especially for Empty Bowl.
